Japan hopes to use China as the major procurement market for worsted wool
According to overseas media reports, Japanese menswear manufacturers now hope to use China as the main source of their worsted suits.
From January to June, Japanese garment manufacturers purchased 58 million square meters of worsted wool from China, an increase of 58.6% over the same period of last year. This makes Japan’s imports from China more than imports from Italy and the United Kingdom. During the same period, Italy's worsted wools sold to Japan increased by 8% year-on-year; the United Kingdom decreased by 7%. Worsted fabrics market demands high quality. According to reports, in the first half of 2004, Japan’s demand for imported worsted wool increased by 10.2 million square meters.
